How to use this brief

The MEBC 2027 website needs 32 creatives: 8 videos, 8 CAD renders, 10 photo sets and 6 brand files. It also needs 7 content and data items. 13 creatives are P0. Ragul owns delivery. Files can land one at a time, and the site upgrades as each arrives.

Who this is for: anyone who shoots, renders or collects files for the website. That means the media team, the design (CAD) team, and anyone holding Monaco 2026 footage.

Why the specs matter: the new site is a scroll story in the style of Apple's product pages. It has full-screen video, a boat that turns as you scroll, and an exploded view of the battery cooling that won in Monaco. Those pieces only work with high-resolution files made to a spec. Today's site photos are 800–1,000 px wide, about a third of what a full-screen section needs.

Priority Meaning Creatives
P0 Carries a set piece on the homepage, /fleet/yali-5 or /innovation. The site launches without it on a fallback, but looks second-rate until it lands. 13
P1 Needed within a few weeks of launch. The /join items are needed before intake opens. 11
P2 Adds depth later. 8

Every item has an ID (V-01, C-01, P-01, G-01, D-01). Start every file name with its ID, and use the ID when you talk about it. Each item below says what it is for, where it appears, exactly how to make it, and what to hand over.

Brief

Rules for every file

Send originals at full resolution, made to the spec, with consent from the people in them. These rules apply to every item unless the item says otherwise.

Rule How we want it
Originals only Never send via WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram or screenshots. Chat apps cut images to about 1,600 px and crush the quality. Share from the camera card, the phone gallery at original quality, or the CAD export, using a Drive or OneDrive link.
Resolution Photos at least 4,000 px on the long edge. Video in 4K (3840×2160) where possible, 1080p at minimum. Renders 2560 px wide unless the item says otherwise.
Formats Photos: RAW + JPEG, or the camera's highest-quality JPEG/HEIC. Video: the file as recorded (MP4, MOV, H.264, H.265 or ProRes). Renders: PNG, with transparency where asked. Logos: SVG. Data: CSV or XLSX.
No web editing No filters, heavy grading, compression, added text, watermarks or borders. Light exposure fixes are fine. We make every web version ourselves.
Landscape and vertical The site has a desktop cut and a phone cut. For every photo set and video, also shoot some vertical frames: 4:5 for photos, 9:16 for video.
Steady and level Use a tripod or gimbal, keep horizons level, and never use digital zoom.
Clean light Daylight white balance. Don't mix tube light with window light on faces. Switch off flickering tubes when filming.
Consent Everyone recognisable must be okay with appearing on the public site. Ask the crew at the shoot. For people outside the team, note who they are and we'll decide.
Confidential Nothing that reveals Yali 6.0 design details we want to keep private. Mark anything sensitive as internal when you hand it over.
Credit Note who shot or rendered each file. We credit people on the site.
Third-party marks Sponsor, Prince Albert II Foundation, MEBC and Yacht Club de Monaco logos only with permission or under their brand guidelines. Note where the permission came from.
Video

A · Video

Eight videos. Three are P0: the hero loop (V-01), the Monaco race clips (V-02) and the award moment (V-03). V-02 and V-03 already exist on someone's phone or camera; they only need collecting.

ID Video Priority Appears on

V-01 · Hero loop: Yali on open water P0

What it does: plays full-screen, muted and looping behind the homepage headline "Five years to finish. One to win." It's the first thing every visitor sees.

How we want it:

  • 4K (3840×2160) at 50 or 60 fps if possible (30 fps is fine). Give us 12–20 s of continuous usable footage per take, and we cut a 10–15 s seamless loop.
  • The boat at speed, crossing the frame or running parallel to the camera, from a chase boat or the bank. Clean wake and spray.
  • Camera locked off on a tripod, or a slow, steady gimbal move. No shake, no zoom, no fast pans.
  • Light: golden hour (the first or last hour of sun) or bright overcast. Avoid harsh noon sun and grey haze.
  • Horizon level and on a third, never through the middle. Keep the left third empty (water and sky): the headline sits there on desktop.
  • Keep the boat in the middle third so a 9:16 phone crop still works, or shoot a separate vertical pass.
  • No faces needed, and no text in frame except the boat's own branding.

Shot list (at least 3 takes of each):

  1. Side-on pass, left to right
  2. Side-on pass, right to left
  3. Front 3/4 approach toward the camera
  4. Drone top-down follow, if a drone is available

Hand over: every take, uncut, as V-01_take01.mp4, V-01_take02.mp4, and so on.

V-02 · Monaco 2026 race clips P0

What it does: plays behind the result counters on the homepage: 11th of 16, 50 laps, the first completed endurance run. It's also used on /mebc and in the gallery.

How we want it: every original file from every camera and phone that was in Monaco. Even 3–5 s clips work, and vertical phone clips are welcome. The moments we want most:

  1. The start
  2. Yali on the course, any lap
  3. Rounding a buoy
  4. The pit or swap area
  5. Crossing the finish
  6. The crew reacting at the finish

If the MEBC or Yacht Club de Monaco media team shared official footage, include it and note the source.

Hand over: V-02_<who>_<what-it-shows>.mp4, for example V-02_sharan_finish-line.mp4.

V-03 · Award moment, Monaco 2026 P0

What it does: carries the homepage prize chapter, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation Sustainable Yachting Technology Award (€25,000). It's also used on /innovation.

How we want it: the announcement, the crew walking up, receiving the award, the handshake, the team on stage, a close-up of the trophy or certificate, and the team's reaction. Original files. For official ceremony footage, note the source and whether we may use it.

V-04 · B-roll pack: the boat in action P1

What it does: fills chapter transitions and the /fleet pages, and supplies shots for the recruitment reel (V-06).

How we want it: 4K, 6–10 steady clips of 5–15 s each, on a calm day with the sun behind the camera.

  1. Side tracking shot from a chase boat at the same speed as Yali
  2. Drone top-down follow, the boat moving up the frame
  3. Drone orbit around the boat
  4. Spray and wake close-up, low near the water or telephoto from the bank
  5. Propeller wash from behind
  6. Cockpit POV: a GoPro on the pilot's helmet or the dash, facing forward over the bow
  7. The pilot strapping in, helmet on, thumbs up
  8. Launch: the boat rolled off the trailer into the water

V-05 · Garage build timelapses P1

What it does: shows the work behind the boat on /story, in the journey chapter and on /join.

How we want it:

  • 2–3 timelapses: composite layup, wiring the battery or PDU, and final assembly.
  • Camera on a tripod, locked off and untouched for the whole session. 4K.
  • One frame every 2–5 s. About 250 frames plays back as 10 s, so plan 8–20 minutes of work per timelapse.
  • Steady light: daylight or switched-off tubes. Nobody standing in front of the lens for long.

Hand over: the frame sequence (JPEG or RAW), or the camera's timelapse video file.

V-06 · Join the Crew reel P1before intake opens

What it does: the hero of /join, and the main Instagram and LinkedIn post for the intake. It's the strongest driver of applications, so it has to be ready before the window opens.

How we want it: 30–45 s, edited.

  1. 0–5 s, the hook: Yali at speed (from V-01 or V-04).
  2. 5–30 s, the crew: people at work in the Garage, plus 3–4 one-line soundbites, each from a different sub-team. For example: "I wired the battery cooling that won in Monaco."
  3. 30–40 s, the payoff: a Monaco moment (from V-02 or V-03).
  4. Last 5 s: the end card Join the Crew · seasakthi.com/join. We can supply the card.

Record soundbites with a clip-on mic in a quiet room. Hand over 16:9 (1920×1080) and 9:16 (1080×1920), each with burned-in captions, plus a clean version without captions.

V-07 · Battery-cooling thermal test footage P1

What it does: makes the award-winning idea visible on /innovation: the pack runs cooler with phase-change material (PCM).

How we want it: thermal-camera footage of the pack under load, with PCM and without. Use the same load, duration and camera position for both runs, or run the two packs side by side. Any resolution works; we stylise it. Note the load (A), the ambient temperature and the duration, and pair it with the test data (D-01).

V-08 · Yali 6.0 teaser P2

What it does: closes the journey timeline (Yali 6.0 · MEBC 2027), and sits beside the countdown once the dates are set.

How we want it: an 8–12 s CAD fly-through or reveal at 4K, on a dark background with rim light. Show the shape, not the details. Nothing confidential.

CAD & 3D

B · CAD & 3D renders

Eight renders. Three are P0: the 360° turntable (C-01), the exploded view (C-02) and the battery-cooling cutaway (C-03). Set up one camera and one light rig, and reuse them for every render. Then the turntable, exploded view and stills line up exactly and can cross-fade into each other on the page.

ID Render Priority Appears on
C-01 Yali 5.0 turntable image sequence P0 Homepage boat chapter, /fleet/yali-5
C-02 Exploded-view layers P0 /fleet/yali-5, /innovation
C-03 Battery-cooling (BTMS) cutaway + schematic P0 /innovation, homepage prize chapter
C-04 Yali 5.0 beauty renders P1 Fleet card, share images, /partners, press kit
C-05 Past boats, Yali 1.0–4.0 P1 /fleet, journey timeline
C-06 Yali 6.0 teaser render P2 Journey end card, countdown
C-07 3D model (GLB) P2 Optional interactive viewer
C-08 Dimension drawing P2 Spec overlays on /fleet/yali-5

The shared rig

  • Camera: front 3/4 view, about 15° above the deck line, 35–50 mm equivalent lens (no wide-angle distortion). Save it as a named camera and never move it.
  • Light: three-point studio light. A soft key light front-left and above, a fill from the right, and a rim light from behind to separate the hull from a dark background.
  • Background: transparent (alpha) unless the item says otherwise.
  • Materials: realistic but clean. The hull finish and the carbon or flax weave visible; metals satin, not mirror-bright.
  • Output: PNG, sRGB, 8-bit (16-bit is fine), straight alpha.

C-01 · Yali 5.0 turntable image sequence P0

What it does: in the homepage boat chapter, the boat turns a full circle as the visitor scrolls. The same frames carry /fleet/yali-5.

How we want it:

  • A full 360° in 150 frames, 2.4° per frame. Turn the boat around the vertical axis through its own centre.
  • Frame 0 is the front 3/4 hero angle from the shared rig.
  • 2560×1440 PNG with a transparent background. If alpha isn't possible, render on solid #050B1A.
  • The boat centred and at identical scale in every frame, with about 10% margin so the bow and stern never touch the edge.
  • Lighting identical across all frames. No motion blur, and no shadow catcher unless it's the same in every frame.
  • Optional phone set: the same 150 frames at 1080×1350.

Hand over: C-01_yali5_turn_000.png to C-01_yali5_turn_149.png in one folder.

One locked camera: the boat turns 2.4° per frame Top view bow turns on its own centre Camera frame 0 front 3/4 2.4° per frame 150 frames × 2.4° = one full turn Side view deck line 15° 15° above the deck line camera 35–50 mm lens · saved as a named camera, never moved Every frame 2560 × 1440 PNG transparent background boat centred, same scale about 10% margin all round
C-01 turntable rig · top view, side view and output frame

Frame 0 is the front 3/4 hero angle. Every later frame turns the boat 2.4° about its own centre while the camera, lens and lights stay exactly where they are.

C-02 · Exploded-view layers P0

What it does: on /fleet/yali-5 and /innovation, the boat comes apart as you scroll, and each subsystem gets a label.

How we want it:

  1. Use the same camera as C-01 frame 0.
  2. Render the assembled boat on its own.
  3. Render each subsystem alone, in its assembled position. Hide everything else; don't move the part. The subsystems: hull · deck/cockpit · battery pack · BTMS (PCM module) · motor + drive · PDU/electronics · steering/controls · propeller.
  4. Every layer on the same canvas: 2560 px wide, same height, transparent. Stacked together, the layers must recreate the assembled boat exactly.
  5. Add a screenshot of the exploded assembly from CAD, to show how far apart you'd like the parts to move. We animate toward it.
  6. Add a text list with each part's name, one line on what it does, and any number worth showing (for example, "axial-flux motor, 15 kW").

Hand over: C-02_00_assembled.png, C-02_01_hull.png, C-02_02_deck.png, and so on, plus C-02_parts.txt.

C-03 · Battery-cooling (BTMS) cutaway + schematic P0

What it does: tells the award story on /innovation. It shows how phase-change material keeps the cells cool.

How we want it:

  1. A section render: a cut plane through the PCM module showing the cells, the paraffin + expanded-graphite PCM around them, and the housing. 2560 px, transparent, from the shared camera or straight-on, whichever reads more clearly. Give cells, PCM and housing clearly different colours.
  2. A heat-flow schematic: cell → PCM → housing → air or water. A CAD drawing PDF is ideal, but a clean hand sketch photographed flat is enough. We redraw it as an animated diagram.
  3. Labels: the name of each layer, the PCM melting point, and the cell type and count, if they aren't confidential.

C-04 · Yali 5.0 beauty renders P1

What it does: fleet cards, social share images, /partners and the press kit.

How we want it: 5 views at 3840×2160: front 3/4, side profile, top-down, rear 3/4, and a cockpit detail. Render each twice, once on dark #050B1A and once on light #F4F7FB, for 10 files in all.

C-05 · Past boats, Yali 1.0–4.0 P1

What it does: the cards on /fleet and the stops on the homepage journey timeline.

How we want it: one clean side-profile render per boat, 2400 px wide, transparent. If the CAD for an older boat is lost, send the best real side-on photo instead.

C-06 · Yali 6.0 teaser render P2

A silhouette or rim-lit render at 3840×2160 on dark. It reveals the shape, not the details.

C-07 · 3D model, GLB P2

For an optional interactive viewer. Export only the C-02 parts, named the same way. Decimate to under 5 MB after Draco compression, with simple PBR materials, units in metres, Y-up, and the origin at the hull centre.

C-08 · Dimension drawing P2

Side and top views with overall length, beam and height, exported from CAD as PDF or SVG.

P-01 · Crew portraits P0

What it does: fills the /crew grid and the homepage crew chapter. A matching set looks professional; a mix of phone shots looks amateur, however good each one is.

Set-up (identical for everyone, all in one session):

  • Backdrop: plain dark navy or mid-grey paper or cloth, 1.5 m behind the person, no texture or wrinkles.
  • Light: one large soft light (a softbox or a big window) at 45° front-left, slightly above eye level, plus a white reflector on the right. No on-camera flash.
  • Camera: about 85 mm equivalent at f/2.8–4, at eye level, 2–3 m away.
  • Framing: shoulders up, 4:5 vertical, eyes about a third down from the top, a little headroom.
  • Wardrobe: the same team T-shirt or jacket for everyone. No caps or sunglasses.
  • Takes: at least two per person, one natural smile and one confident neutral.
Portrait set-up, seen from above: one soft light at 45°, reflector opposite Backdrop: plain dark navy or mid-grey 1.5 m Subject shoulders up, 4:5 vertical Key light: large softbox or window 45° front-left, slightly above eye level White reflector fills the shadow side Camera ~85 mm, f/2.8–4, eye level, 2–3 m away, no flash
P-01 portrait set-up · seen from above

Keep every position the same for every person: the backdrop distance, the light angle, the reflector and the camera height.

Hand over: at least 2000×2500, every take, named P-01_firstname-lastname_01.jpg. Photograph the set-up itself, so new members can be shot identically after the intake. An optional extra is one candid "at work" shot of each person.

P-02 · Team group photo with the boat P0

What it does: the homepage crew chapter ("16 students. One garage."), /story and press.

How we want it:

  • The whole crew with Yali, 3:2 landscape, at least 6,000 px wide.
  • Two versions: a tight one where people fill the frame, and a wide one with empty wall or sky in the left or top third for headline text.
  • Location: the Garage with the boat front and centre, or the water's edge at golden hour.
  • Two rows, nobody hidden behind anyone. Camera on a tripod; take many frames, because someone always blinks.

P-03 · Yali 5.0 real stills P0

What it does: fleet pages, the gallery, chapter backgrounds and social share images. It's the real-world partner to the CAD renders.

How we want it: two settings, on the stand in the Garage (tools and clutter cleared from the background) and on the water.

  1. Full boat: front 3/4, side profile, rear 3/4, and top-down from a drone or a ladder. Shoot at f/8 so the whole boat is sharp, on a tripod.
  2. 6–8 detail close-ups: cockpit, battery enclosure, motor, PDU, the BTMS module, steering, propeller, and the "Yali" name on the hull. Shoot at f/2.8–4 for a soft background.

At least 4,000 px, RAW + JPEG, with some vertical frames of each.

P-04 · Monaco 2026 originals P0

What it does: the homepage result and prize chapters, the 2026 gallery, news and /mebc.

How we want it: collect everything from every camera and phone, at original quality. From Google Photos, use Download (not share). From an iPhone, use Export unmodified original. We pick the best 40–60. The moments that matter:

  • Yali racing, and the harbour with Monaco behind it
  • The pit and paddock, and scrutineering
  • The crew with the award, and the ceremony on stage
  • The team with patrons or the ambassador

Note who took each photo, and flag any photo that shows people from outside the team.

P-05 · Garage and build process P1

15–25 natural, unposed photos. The Garage exterior and interior, wide (tidy up first). Composite layup, soldering, CAD on a screen (nothing confidential), bench testing, and close-ups of hands at work at f/2.8–4. Used on /story, /join and in the gallery.

P-06 · Drone aerials P1

5–10 stills in 4K. Top-down shots of the boat on water: a small boat in a big field of water works well behind text. Add an orbit series and the test site from height. Fly legally and check local permission first.

P-07 · Sub-team "what you'll do" photos P1before intake opens

What it does: heads each /join position page, so applicants can see the actual work.

How we want it: one photo per sub-team of real crew members doing that work. 16:9 landscape, with space on one side for text.

Sub-team What the photo shows
Mechanical Machining or composite work on the hull
Electrical Wiring the battery or PDU
Embedded & Telemetry A laptop, boards and the live telemetry dashboard
Design CAD on screen, or sketching
Materials Fibre samples or a layup in progress
Operations The planning board, a stand-up meeting
Media & Marketing A camera, an editing timeline
PR & Partnerships Presenting to or meeting a sponsor
Logistics Packing or loading for transport

P-08 to P-10 P2

  • P-08 · Archive originals, 2022–2025: the best 10 per season, at higher resolution than today's site, where most images are about 960 px.
  • P-09 · Institution shot: the KCT main building or campus, wide, in good light, landscape, at least 4,000 px.
  • P-10 · Patrons: official higher-resolution portraits if any exist. The current ones are usable.
Graphics & brand

D · Graphics & brand files

Six files. Three are P0: logo masters (G-01), sponsor logos (G-02) and award and event marks (G-03). None of them needs a shoot, so they can start today.

G-01 · Logo master files P0

What it does: the header, footer, favicon, page loader and every social share image. The site has only small PNG/WebP versions today, which blur on large screens.

How we want it: SVG vector files. Full logo (mark + wordmark), mark only, and wordmark only, each in full colour, white (for dark sections) and black: 9 files. If only a raster exists, send the original design file (Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma or Canva link) and the exact colour values, so it can be redrawn.

Hand over: G-01_logo-full_colour.svg, G-01_logo-full_white.svg, G-01_mark_black.svg, and so on.

G-02 · Sponsor logos P0

What it does: the scrolling partner strip on the homepage and the /partners page. Several current files are JPEGs inside white boxes, which look broken on a dark background.

How we want it: an SVG for each of the 18 current sponsors: Thriveni, Roots India, SBM Offshore, StartupTN, IFCCI, Indsight, Air Liquide, Janatics, Agni Motors, Ador Digatron, Indian Oil, Horizon Fuel Cell, Essemm India, Rim Drive Technology, Pricol, Anandham Industries, Effica and Nallaramm. The best sources are each sponsor's press or brand page, or their contact person. If no SVG exists, send a transparent PNG at least 1,000 px wide.

Also send one sheet listing, for each sponsor: name, tier, website, contact, whether logo use is confirmed, and whether they continue for 2027.

G-03 · Award and event marks P0

What it does: the homepage prize chapter, /innovation and /mebc.

How we want it:

  1. A photo or scan of the award certificate and the trophy: flat, even light, at least 4,000 px.
  2. The logos of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge and the Yacht Club de Monaco, with their brand guidelines or written permission.

Ask early. Without permission we can only name these organisations in text.

G-04 · Brochure 2027 PDF P1

Updated with the 2026 result and the award. A4, under 10 MB (today's is 9.9 MB), with a print version and a lighter screen version. Download link on /partners and in the footer.

G-05 · Sponsorship deck PDF P1

The tiers, the reach (social following, press coverage), what sponsors get, and the 2027 plan. Under 15 MB. Behind the Become a partner button on /partners.

G-06 · Season mark P2

Optional. A YALI 6.0 · MEBC 2027 lockup as SVG, for the hero tag, merch and social posts.

Two design calls (no file needed)

Decision Options Where it shows
Accent colour Electric cyan #22D3EE or Monaco red #E63946 Data, highlights, buttons on dark sections
Display typeface Clash Display, Neue Montreal or Satoshi (all free for the web) Every big headline

Decide both in design review, before the first page is styled.

Content & data

E · Content & data the site also needs

These seven items aren't creatives, and Ragul may hand them to other crew members. D-01, the battery-cooling test data, is the most persuasive thing on the whole site. A chart of the pack staying cooler with PCM explains the award better than any sentence.

ID Item Priority Format we want Used on Likely source
D-01 Battery-cooling test data: temperature over time, with and without PCM, at the same load P0 CSV/XLSX with columns: time (s), cell temp with PCM (°C), cell temp without PCM (°C), ambient (°C), load (A) /innovation animated chart Electrical sub-team
D-02 Verified specs for Yali 1.0–5.0: weight, top speed, motor, battery, hull materials P0 XLSX, one row per boat, units in the header /fleet Each year's crew or faculty
D-03 Proof for past results, such as the "6th global" claims for 2022 and 2023 P0 A doc with a link or scan for each result Journey timeline, /mebc MEBC results archive
D-04 Crew list: name, role, sub-team, LinkedIn URL, one-line bio P0 XLSX, one row per person /crew Captain
D-05 Position descriptions for every open role: responsibilities, requirements, hours per week P0before intake One doc per role /join Sub-team leads
D-06 3–4 short quotes from the captain, the pilot, the BTMS lead and the faculty advisor P1 1–2 sentences each, with name and role Homepage, /innovation, /join Short interviews
D-07 2026 press coverage: outlet, headline, date, URL P1 Sheet, newest first /news PR

D-03 matters because the old site says "6th global" for 2022 and 2023, while 2026 press calls this year the team's first completed endurance run. Both can be true, but the new site repeats only what we can link to.
